Roter Lowe model - Elector of Brandenburg Galleon - wooden ship model kit
Mamoli - no. MV19 - scale 1:55
The Roter Lowe galleon was built in the Netherlands in 1597 and was purchased in 1601 by the Royal Council for the Grand Elector of Brandenburg.
From 1602 to 1605, it served as a rowing boat in Pillau under the command of Captain Peter Hinze. In October 1608, under the command of Captain Johann Fett, the galleon sailed with a shipment of wood to Lisbon, where it was sold with its cargo.
The size of the Roter Lowe is unknown, but based on its tonnage of 240 tons and the construction methods of the time, it can be reconstructed as a ship with a length of 28 meters from stem to stern and a width of about 8 meters.
