Czołg Sherman został zaprojektowany w latach 40. XX wieku przez firmę Chrysler Corporation jako odpowiedź na potrzeby armii amerykańskiej. Maszyna była wyposażona w silnik benzynowy, który umożliwiał osiągnięcie prędkości maksymalnej wynoszącej około 48 km/h. Czołg Sherman był uzbrojony w 75-milimetrową armatę, która stanowiła główne uzbrojenie pojazdu.
