The Puritan, designed by Edward Burgess, was a yacht just under 30 meters long with a good beam and a sliding keel, characteristic of American boats of this class. It also had some draft, and part of the ballast was attached to the keel. It was therefore a fairly stable boat. In 1885, under the command of Captain Aubrey Crocker, she defended the America's Cup against the English cutter Ginesta, winning only two races, the first in light winds and the second in winds of over 20 knots, confirming the superiority of American hulls of this type in regattas. The scale at which we have produced our kit is 1:50, which shows every detail of the real structure. The model can be constructed either as static (with a second visible mahogany-colored board or painted according to preference) or sailing according to the instructions to make the hull waterproof. Radio control is not provided.
