Mr. Hobby SF-289 Mr. Surfacer 1500 is a fine-grained liquid primer (gray) that serves as both a primer and a light finishing filler.

It is primarily used for:

- filling minor scratches, micro-defects, and sanding marks,
- preparing model surfaces (plastic, resin, metal) for painting,
- improving the adhesion of base coats.

The 1500 version indicates a very fine grain, which results in:

- a smooth surface after application,
- minimal “masking” of detail,
- an ideal finishing step before applying color.

The product can be applied:

- by airbrush (after thinning, most commonly with Mr. Color Leveling Thinner),
- spot-by-spot with a brush for minor touch-ups.

Once dry, it forms a thin, durable layer that can be sanded or painted directly with a base coat.
