The Statenjacht is a type of ship used since the 17th century in the Netherlands to transport important government or corporate figures. These ships have a flat bottom, rounded bow and stern, and are richly decorated. The cannon on the ship was used for saluting and signaling. Ships of this type were usually between 18 and 21 meters long. This particular model represents a Statenjacht in the service of the Dutch East India Company (VOC-Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie).
