Some facts:
HMS Warrior is the largest, fastest, most heavily armored and most heavily armored ship at the time of its inception. It was the first British armored ship that was built in response to the French Gloire. He entered service on 1 August 1861. However, the HMS Warrior was never used in combat. This ship was withdrawn from service in 1875, because the naval technique was developing rapidly. In the years 1902-1904 the hull of the ship served as a warehouse for the fleet of destroyers. Then he became part of the Vernon torpedo school and adopted the new name Vernon III. In 1924 an unsuccessful attempt was made to sell the ship. After 5 years it was allocated to a diesel tank and served for another 50 years. In 1968 a special committee was set up, which was to preserve for the future generations of significant and historic ships of the Royal Navy. This committee was saved by the HMS Warrior, the restoration work was completed in 1987 and the ship was named HMS Warrior (1860). Ship - the museum is exhibited in Portsmouth.
